COMMITTEE MEETINGS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

This week at Rotary there was no speaker so committees were able to give brief reports and meet after the meeting. The Fundraising Committee had a couple of announcements. First of all, the numbers are looking great. The Polar Plunge is coming up on January 27 at 10 am. There is another Polar Plunge event going on at the same time at the Willows and we will try to coordinate with the other organization. There will be different donation options available for Rotarians around this event. If you plan on plunging, please wear pink. Also the Auction is coming up. The event will be Wednesday April 3.

The next Lifebridge dinner is Wednesday, January 10. Gerrit is suggesting that the meal be macaroni and cheese along with some ham, mostly because Gerrit has extra ham. A signup sheet was passed around. Rotarians can still donate to the meal as well if you cannot attend.

The first quarter billing will be delayed a few weeks so calendar money can be sent in. If it is not received by that time, Bill will bill us on that quarterly bill.

Jason Consalvo was absent this week so we adjourned early.

Please let Liz know if you left any utensils at her house. See below...

Get Moving to End Polio

Are YOU ready?? Time to get off your duff, put on those new exercise outfits and sneakers, and let’s all make some healthy New Year’s resolutions, AND raise some serious funds for the eradication of polio! You can choose your own date(s) so no excuse about scheduling!

How do you move: (@$25-$50 per hour?)
Clean your house; food shop; yoga or exercise class; ride a bike; ski (if you can find snow); Polar Plunge alone or with a group; join in one of the district events; use your imagination – anything goes!

How do you raise donations:
Ask family members; ask club members; ask co-workers; support yourself
Either set up a Raise For Rotary page or collect $$/checks and have your club send to Rotary End Polio.

ROTARIAN NEWS

  • Kiz Bradt ran in the Frosty Four road race on New Years Day. It was a lovely event, especially since she walked the dogs and came in dead last.
  • Gerrit Bradley had no bird report. He is happy that he was able to see New Years from the perspective of his kids. They kicked the parents out, did some cooking, but they did not do the dishes because Gerrit did not have any dishwashing detergent.
  • Tyler Hains saw a performance of The Play That Goes Wrong which he highly recommended. In fact, he called it "a hoot." He described how one of his kids got too involved in the play by shouting out the location of a hidden toy.
  • Bill Henning was back in town. He and Thomas went on a western Caribbean cruise out of Miami. Thankfully they came back healthy.
  • Bruce Whear had a wonderful holiday celebration. A family member cooked bagels from scratch which were amazing. Heidi got him two tickets to see Tuck. They will also see Moulin Rouge.
