CLUB BUSINESS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

THIS WEEK'S SPEAKER
Rinus introduced this week's special presentation.
Paul Van Ness of Cinema Salem wanted documentary shorts that were expansive and flexible. This idea was spun into a documentary film class at Montserrat that included 10 students who worked on the shorts. Last year there were 5 films, this year there were 16 films that featured 90 seconds of video showing something about Salem. This is a unique opportunity for the students to meet world-class documentary film artists whose work is featured at the Salem Film Fesitval. In addition, the documentarians may become "Artists in Residence" with Joe Coltrera.
Several of the shorts were shown a the meeting. These included one about the power plant, a Salem cobbler, the inventor of the Tornado Tube, St. James bingo, Baxter's Buddies featuring Phoenix School children, one on Red's Restaurant, and one about The Record Exchange.
Rotarians enjoyed the films and the popcorn courtesy of Salem Cinema!
Rinus mentioned the Danish architectural documentary, "Human Scale", that will be shown at Salem Cinema on July 18th and 19th at 10am.
NEXT WEEK'S SPEAKER
Next week John Keenan and Joan Lovely will be speaking. Please be sure to attend.
