There are no speakers during the summer, but Salem Rotary does not take a vacation!
President Joe has taken the helm and is leading our Club through productive discussions each week on how to have a wonderful Rotary year and how we can improve as a Club! Each week, he poses a question to the group which Rotarians answer over lunch in table discussions. Throughout the summer, he'll be sharing results from these discussions and the recent survey.
This week, he shared how one area where many Salem Rotarians think we can improve is integrating new members. This came up in the survey and was discussed at last week's meeting. During that discussion, several Rotarians suggested a mentor/buddy system as a way to welcome new members and help them learn the ins and outs of our Club. President Joe shared this information with the Membership Committee Chairs for their consideration.
Next week, he and Rinus Oosthoek will present more detailed results from the Club survey. Be sure not to miss that meeting!

Notes were being taken by a Zoom attendee this week. Please forgive any missed news. It is not always easy to hear!
Mike McLaughlin shared that his family welcomed a new addition last week when his second granddaughter, Emme Rose McLaughlin, was born!
Viktoria Talebian paid a little extra this week, because she is going to miss the next couple of meetings while she is at a conference and on vacation in Hawaii. Don't be too jealous, she is bring six teenagers with her!
Bob Conley shared that he has five bird feeders on his new patio, but he can't seem to attract any orioles.
Claire Kallelis shared something extraordinarily interesting, but the sound on the Zoom cut out, so it will be an in-person-only secret!
Gerrit Bradley was in the middle of providing a bird report on a hawk when the sound came back on.
Jason Consalvo had his own bird report today saying that Kerri's mom had given them a hummingbird feeder, and they saw their first one last week. He also shared that he had a family reunion of sorts at the beach with seven of eight aunts and uncles and many more cousins.
William Golden shared how his son, daughter and their families are traveling back to Massachusetts from the west coast for a Red Sox game.
Joe Amico told of the car accident he was in that totaled his new convertible. Fortunately, no one except the car was injured. Jim is already in the process for hunting for a replacement.
