Our speaker this week was Salem Rotarian Ashley Tina. Ashley gave her classification speech.
Ashley is an educator, author, and owner of The Good Witch of Salem. While she initially was working in communication, she began her career as an Elementary School Teacher in Revere MA and received a Masters Degree in Special Education from Salem State University. Ashley went on to receive additional teaching licenses in English as a Second Language and Early Childhood Education. Eventually she left teaching with the desire to create an avenue to share her talents with a larger audience. As The Good Witch of Salem was being "born", Ashley had to move on from teaching.
The Good Witch of Salem is a positive role model represented by the vibrant color "pink." Events, workshops, educational resources, and storytelling are just a few of the ways in which the Good Witch shares her magic. At The Good Witch of Salem, patrons can shop children's boutique clothing, gifts, and jewelry, as well as sign up for creative adventures such as broom making, hat decorating, and potion brewing. Additional experiences include school visits and immersion experiences in "Good Witch" magic like transformations, meet and greets, and "spa" events. Families can pick up the Magical Map as well, which Ashley presented prior to October. It's a map that encourages visitors to explore Salem in a kid-friendly manner. The retail side of things helps fund the experiences that Ashley is able to create.
When she was nine, Ashley decided she would eventually write a book. Now you may read about the Good Witch's magical gifts in her first book, "The Good Witch of Salem." Ashley clearly has loads of passion that shines though in the store and experiences, and she recognizes how they can bring joy to children. The biggest challenge she faces is finding the time to be a business owner, being the character of the Good Witch, and being a mother.
