FINES AND RECOGNITIONS
 
Jason Consalvo pointed out that Rotary sponsored the very cold Wild Turkey 5 Miler—his wife won and tortured him with cold hands later.
 
Jeff Schribman said he finally got his Rotary calendar money in.
 
John Fisher had a lovely time in Florida with his family from around the country—everyone reminisced about cheering for Rotary softball games.
 
Bruce Whear reminded everyone that the Rotary Holiday Potluck is at his home at 6:30 on 12/15.
 
Viktoria Talebian had a non-traditional holiday skiing trip around Colorado with her son.

Nicole McLaughlin announced that she was at Rotary to fact check Kara’s classification speech.
 
Liz Bradt announced that people could bring a holiday book and read at the DCF party on Saturday—the kids love it!  She also let everyone know that Mariana finally received her green card after three years of working with immigration lawyers and the family.

Bill Henning announced Chris Casey’s birthday, and also told the group that he and Thomas have just returned from 2+ weeks in India. They highly recommend the experience.

 
 
 
 
 

ANNOUNCEMENTS AND CLUB BUSINESS
 
The childrens' DCF party will be held on December 1st at  the Salem High School field house.  Thank you to all who signed up to volunteer!  More volunteers are always needed, and you can just show up.
 
SAVE THE DATE!  The holiday party will be held on Friday, December 14th.
 
There are a few cards going around to send well wishes to fellow Rotarians. Continue to keep Betsye Sargent in your thoughts.
 
President Rinus offered a recap of the Salem/Beverly rivalry with last week’s joint meeting and big football game. $500 was given to the Boosters from the rival cities.

The Rotary gave $400 to the North Shore Food Bank for Thanksgiving.

Jason Consalvo gave an update about Ashanti Nelson who lost his family home in Lynn on Thanksgiving to a fire. Rinus also suggested that members find ways to help those who lost their homes at 12 Lynde Street.

Randy Burba shared his experience on his Jamaican volunteer trip.

Calendars will be distributed next week.

District News

A new District Governor will be needed for 2021-2022. Salem Rotary will also start looking at a succession plan for Adria.

Please join the Cabot Concert for a Rotary event on 12/4. Music and fun!

Planning has started for the 2/9 Polar Plunge to benefit polio research.

SPEAKER OF THE WEEK
 
This week, Kara McLaughlin gave her classification speech.
 
 
Kara spoke about her background and information about learning about the effects of PANDAS and PANS.
 
She offered handouts about the autoimmune disorder, encouraged Rotarians to learn more, and is happy to be a resource for the local community.
