VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS
No visiting Rotarians or guests.

FINES AND RECOGNITIONS
Chris Casey spent time in Vale with his 2 sons catching the red eye home.

Paul Herrick spent some time in Maine with his wife and 2 sons at a hotel with an indoor swimming pool.

Trip Mason, James Lister and Patrick Langmaid did not go anywhere!

Randy Burba went to Jamaica with his wife.

Liz Bradt was happy to have both her children home from the west coast over the holidays.  Liz also released finches at a new exhibit at the Peabody Essex Museum.

Juli Lederhaus was disappointed that Jet Blue cancelled her flight to Florida but rebooked on American Airlines and left Thursday.

Mark Leavitt wished everyone a Happy New Year.  He reminded everyone that all money for the Rotary Calendars should be in by January 14th.  The earlier printing date and beginning of sales has resulted in a finish for the calendars that is 4-6 weeks sooner than usual.

Joanne Scott talked about the Polar Plunge, saying that is wasn't that difficult last year.  She did not feel the cold, although she could not breathe!  Joanne encourages others to become polar bears!  A pledge sheet was circulated for donations to this year's Plunge.

Jason Consalvo has not been to Rotary for a few weeks, so he paid a fine.  He also paid his customary fine for when the Patriots win.  Keep it up Jason, it is good juju for the Pats!

Patty Pace welcomed her first grandchild on December 29th.  James Thomas Davenport.  Patty also received a transfer to a better Eastern Bank branch for her on Loring Avenue.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS
Brenda reiterated her New Year's Eve theme that we are all part of each other's village.  This is true during difficult times as well:

Bob Raiche, longtime friend and past Rotarian and founder of Friends Forever, passed away on January 1, 2014.

Maryann Curtin's granddaughter was involved in a horrible car accident on New Year's Eve.  She remains in ICU and is in a coma.  Prayers for Maryann and her family.

Our own John Quinn is in the hospital with a blood clot.  John is very concerned about his perfect attendance record, so Brenda is insuring that he will have a way to get credit for the meeting.  A card was passed around.  Brenda has asked his wife, Lorraine, for details regarding visitors.

Rocky Pelletier is going into surgery.  Kathie Strout sent a fruit basket from the club and received a nice thank you from Mrs. Pelletier.

MEETING
This week was a business meeting.
