The week at Rotary, we had the opportunity to hear from the newly elected officers of The Phoenix School's EarlyAct Club. President Jen Close swore the officers in by reciting the Four Way Test. Each officers received a Rotary pin as well.
The offices presented their visions and goals for the school year. For examples, they want to help as many people as possible this year by working with more local organizations. Another goal is increased tolerance in school and around the city. Another officer hoped to encourage a feeling of comfort and belonging in the school, while another hoped to donate to other schools in need. Finally, they want to help people in need of money and housing, work with LifeBridge, and spend up to $1500 on local organizations. This would represent a huge increase over last school year. Streamline meetings.
The calendar is nearing completion in will hopefully be ready by the end of the month.
AS THE ROTARY WORLD TURNS...
A THANK YOU From The Rotary Foundation
Thank you for giving to The Rotary Foundation!
Last Rotary year, because of your support and your dedication to Doing Good in the World, together, we funded more than 1,100 global grants, 470 district grants, and 310 disaster response grants. To make this work possible, we rely on donors like you. Your generosity helped us raise more than US$427 million, which will continue to help communities thrive through sustainable, life-changing projects.
Gifts from donors like you are making a big impact in communities around the world. Thanks to your generosity, Rotary members can continue improving people’s health, supporting high-quality education, protecting the environment, and aiding communities affected by disasters. Together, we continue to accomplish all of this great work while remaining committed to solving some of the world’s most complex problems, including eradicating polio to make sure children are free from its devastating effects. With your support, we can continue to unite and take action to create lasting change.
Your donations make Doing Good in the World possible. Thank you, Ryan, for strengthening both your own community and communities everywhere.
Our speakers were our only guests this week. Prospective Salem Rotarian William Guerrera attended via Zoom as well.

ROTARIAN NEWS
Jason Consalvo is thankfully back after missing a couple of weeks at Rotary. He spent last week away at a LEAP leadership conference. He did get the chance to go golfing with some business associates at Old Sandwich Golf Course. He was battered like he was in a bout with King Hippo for all of you Mike Tyson Punch-Out fans. He also told us the story of when he made an employee lay out the Rotary calendar for but Thanksgiving was on a Friday!!
Leslie Levesque is excited to have recently celebrated her wedding anniversary. She visited Ella in Tampa. One thing that impressed Leslie is that Ella is appreciative of what she had at home and more joyful to talk to. Finally, Leslie thanked Mike and Liz for attending the EarlyAct event at the school today.
Rinus Oosthoek was happy that there were no parade injuries, and even happier about people spending money in Salem.
Liz Bradt marched in the parade with a candidate. She will be off to Italy on yet another exciting vacation. Three sets of tourists will be using the house as a short term rental.
Gerrit Bradley gave a bird report. He mentioned starlings at Bob Conley's house felt like a tornado and that it is migratory bird season. He looks forward to learning even more about birds. He and his sister put out bat signal to invite friends to NH to take out the rafts and docks. It was an end of summer. "Oktoberfest" kraut, sausages, presumably beer done quickly.
Kristen Armstrong also celebrated her wedding anniversary. She was looking for a hobby to do together, and her husband wants to do birdwatching. He's clearly been inspired by Gerrit. Jack is going to Houston for job training and Luke is going to Nature's Classroom, which leaves plenty of time for birdwatching.
