This week at Rotary we were updated on several upcoming Rotary events. The Salem Community Blood Drive is coming up. The event will be on August 18 1-6 pm in the Sophia Room at the Hawthorne Hotel. Our cardboard boat will be built this weekend at Jen Close's house. It will be decorated at a later date. Carolyn Shapiro has been working on a fundraiser along the lines of Super Bowl squares. If you have any ideas on a fundraiser, feel free to reach out to Carolyn.
A couple of committees gave updates to the club. The International Committee said that Friends Forever is beginning to have trips, and possibly will be coming to Salem. We will be supporting Randy Burba once again on his trip to Jamaica. A few options for new causes are being discussed. The Fundraising Committee updated us on the goals that we hope to achieve this year. The committee has suggested that we select a date for the auction much earlier in the Rotary year so we can advertise it more. The DCF Picnic has been postponed due to bouncy house issues. That is not a joke. New date is TBD.
At one point Mark Shaw was caught vacuuming his Zoom office while the rest of us ate lunch.
A Paul Harris Fellow Award (plus one) was given to David Wescott. Congratulations!!

Gerrit Bradley was up in New Hampshire and saw seven loons (not including Gerrit) tht were on the lake. They think there is a fisher cat nearby too.
Joe Amico and Bob Anthony went to the Salem Community Band Concert at Salem High School. There are upwards of 80 members of the band including our own Rob Lutts.
Rinus Ooshtoek reported that Holland are still in the Women's World Cup, unlike the United States. He did have more to report but I was too angry to pay attention.
