FINES AND RECOGNITIONS
 
Two members, Kara McLaughlin, and Kelly Rice, transitioned into permanent membership.
 
 
 
 
 
A large number of fines were issued for members that had not signed Kara and Kelly's autograph books.
 
Liz Bradt is doing well following heart surgery.
 
Rinus Oosthoek broke his hand in his garage door.
 
Joe Amico lobbied with ECCO at the statehouse for immigrant rights.
 
Jim Robinson mentioned that his Meals on Wheels service has been cancelled due to funding cuts.
 
Bob Anthony has returned from an 8-day vacation in Ireland.
 
Victoria Davis recently met a woman who gave a “How to Get More Women in Rotary” talk and invited her to visit Salem Rotary.
 
Kara McLaughlin reminded us that Gables Fest is this Saturday; and mentioned she got a new set of golf clubs.
 
John Neeley celebrated the 50th anniversary of his “Alive Day.”
 
Rob Lutts climbed Mt. Washington but his wife, Rachel, broke her leg on the way down.
 
Bruce Whear celebrated his 11th wedding anniversary and participated in a recent comedy show in Peabody.
 
Rinus Oosthoek celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary.

ANNOUNCEMENTS AND CLUB BUSINESS
 
On Friday, Aug 31st, 8-9am, 3-4 members of Rotaract and 2-3 Rotary members (volunteers needed) will be on hand to discuss Rotary’s mission at a service-focused event for new Salem State students.
 
The Speaker Committee has been hard at work and is glad to announce that State Rep. Paul Tucker will speak on Sep. 4th in a joint meeting with Salem Chamber, and on Sep. 18th, Tim Clarke will present on his epic boating adventure.
