Deputy Plans Officer for the Massachusetts Army National Guard

Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Love, a native of Cocoa Beach, Florida, is the Deputy Plans Officer for the Massachusetts Army National Guard, "The Nation's First." A full-time military technician, he facilitates strategic planning and organizational assessment programs. He also assists the Adjutant General’s Historical Services Team to preserve Mass Guard heritage, educate service members and communities, and inspire historical thinking and appreciation. Lieutenant Colonel Love enlisted in 1987, served 13 years in the Army and National Guard as an artilleryman, and reached the rank of staff sergeant. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, in 1998 and received a direct commission to Second Lieutenant, Field Artillery. Previous assignments include command and staff positions within a variety of units such as the 1st Battalion, 101st Field Artillery, the 126th Brigade Support Battalion, US Army Central, and Joint Force Headquarters - Massachusetts. He has completed active duty tours in the Pacific, Cuba, and the Middle East. Lieutenant Colonel Love's awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Iraqi Campaign Medal.
