Ipswich River & Rotary Global Grant

Wayne’s presentation will focus on the fact that the Ipswich River which provide’s Salem’s drinking water is amongst the most endangered in the United States, threatening both the watershed’s ecosystem and the supply of water to Salem.

Preserving the Ipswich River watershed which includes the Parker and Essex Rivers must be a urgent priority for Salem residents, businesses, and municipal officials.

Joan Arsenault and Ann Witzig serve on the Ipswich Rotary Global Grant committee that has secured grant funds for an educational and advocacy program designed to persuade the 90% of municipalities in the water district that are exempt from statutory water restrictions to adopt reasonable water use restrictions to preserve the river’s water supply now and in the future.
