HAWC - Healing Abuse Working for Change
HAWC (Healing Abuse Working for Change) strives to help abused women, children, men, and nonbinary people live free from violence and fear. As a leading domestic abuse agency in Massachusetts, HAWC provides a domestic abuse helpline, emergency shelter, legal services, advocacy and counseling services to more than 2,500 families in the North Shore area each year.
 
Julie Gerrhauty: Julie Gerraughty is the Director of Development for HAWC,
Healing Abuse Working for Change, where she leads efforts to
expand the organization’s funding base and enhance its
community outreach. In addition to securing grants, cultivating
donor relationships, and implementing strategic initiatives to
support domestic abuse survivors, she educates people as to the
many factors that contribute to an abuse survivor’s silence.
Answering questions like “Why don’t people just leave?” Julie
helps break the silence and stigma about abuse. Passionate
about advocating for survivors, Julie is dedicated to driving the
agency’s mission forward and working to end domestic abuse on
the North Shore.
Julie lives in Newburyport and has a daughter at High Point
University in North Carolina. She coached youth sports for over
10 years and high school softball for 4 years, focusing on building
confidence and tenacity in young women
