Dr. Allessandria "Al" Polizzi combines three decades of leadership experience in workplace wellness and adult education with her role as Global ISO Occupational Health and Safety Liaison. As CEO and Founder of Verdant Consulting LLC, she guides organizations in developing effective workplace mental health strategies and cultivating positive organizational cultures.

Her expertise in facilitation and adult education has shaped Verdant Consulting's approach to workplace wellness, earning the company recognition as a Top 20 Workplace Wellness Provider. Dr. Polizzi's impact extends beyond consulting through her authored work, including the Workplace Mental Health Strategy Workbook, which provides organizations with practical tools for implementing mental health initiatives.

Under her leadership, Verdant Consulting has garnered numerous accolades from Training and HR organizations for its innovative approaches to workplace wellness and organizational development. Dr. Polizzi's commitment to improving workplace mental health has established her as a thought leader in occupational health and safety, helping organizations create more supportive and productive work environments.

Verdant Consulting leverages neuroscience-based approaches to build organizational resilience through their comprehensive suite of services. Their flagship Resilient Teams Program implements 12 proven behavioral strategies, supported by ongoing group coaching and burnout recovery services. The company's Psychological Safety Training adheres to ISO 45003 guidelines, helping organizations create environments that foster innovation while preventing workplace injuries.

Technology plays a central role in their delivery model, featuring the Verdant Resiliency App for daily microlearning and a mobile platform for on-the-go development. The company offers integration with established assessment tools like Gallup Strengths and Predictive Index, while maintaining flexibility through customizable training programs and leadership development initiatives.

Drawing on 30 years of educational expertise, Verdant combines traditional workshop learning with self-study sessions, emphasizing practical stress management and conflict resolution skills. Their approach ensures sustainable behavior change through continuous support and microlearning tools, placing particular emphasis on leadership development as a key driver of organizational culture and employee retention.

Dr. Allessandria Polizzi led an interactive session on workplace burnout, beginning with a self-assessment of members' burnout levels. She identified three key symptoms: exhaustion, cynicism, and cognitive decline.

Through guided table discussions, participants explored burnout triggers and solutions. Dr. Polizzi revealed that natural disaster trauma ranks as the leading cause of severe stress. She detailed how burnout cascades through organizations, creating workflow disruptions and interpersonal tensions.

Middle managers, she emphasized, significantly influence employee mental health. Additional stress factors include workplace design, workload, organizational culture, job roles, schedules, and autonomy levels.

The session highlighted the importance of leadership in combating burnout. Dr. Polizzi advocated for managers to prioritize self-care and model healthy habits. Her recommendations included practicing self-compassion, suspending self-judgment, approaching challenges with curiosity, and building team capabilities.

ROTARY NEWS

SoCal Rotary Districts Disaster Relief Funds

The devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area have moved so many people to want to help.  Two Rotary Districts serving the Southern California affected by the fires have established relief funds to help support those in need.

The fund established by Rotary District 5280 can be found here.  This includes Los Angeles, Long Beach, Malibu.

A fund established by Rotary District 5300 can be found here.  This District is east of the other District and includes Altadena and Pasadena.

People often look to Rotary to find trusted stewards to accept donations during disasters.  Thank you to all the Rotarian and other helpers serving that area during this catastrophe.

Join Us for World Peace and Understanding Event

Join us on February 26 for our World Peace and Understanding Event.  The event will be from 6 to 9 pm at Danversport, 161 Elliot St., Danvers, MA 01923.

We are fortunate to have as our special guest polio survivor John Nanni. Six months just before the Salk Vaccine distribution, John was paralyzed from his neck down. He now uses a wheelchair for most of his daily mobility due to severe Post-Polio Syndrome issues. John will enlighten us on Polio and Peace. He is a proud member of the Rotary Club of Middletown-Odessa-Townsend, Delaware, USA.

ROTARIAN NEWS...

We didn't have time for Happy Dollars, so here is some highlights from the table that I sat at:

  • Jason "Capitalist Pig" Consalvo at one point joked about swapping bras with Gerrit Bradley. We are unsure of what prompted the conversation, but we are here for the show.

  • Doc Eisner joked that he was going to be playing indoor golf on Valentine's Day. Again, we are unsure of what prompted the comment, but we are absolutely not interested in the show.
