President and CEO, North Shore Chamber of Commerce

Karen Andreas has dedicated her lifelong career to the betterment of the North Shore region – as a journalist, media publisher and currently, as president and chief executive officer of the North Shore Chamber of Commerce.

Leading the region’s largest chamber was a natural fit for Karen, who had been a past chairman and longtime member of the Board of Directors. Several years ago, she was inducted into the organization’s Distinguished Leadership Academy.

For the past 30 years, Karen worked as a reporter, editor and then publisher of North of Boston Media Group, where for she led region’s award-winning newspapers and magazines, including The Salem News.

Karen volunteers her time to numerous organizations, such as the Salem State Board of Overseers, Essex Heritage Board of Trustees, and Northern Essex Community College Foundation, to name a few.

She is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English, specializing in journalism. She loves politics, leadership, gardening and sports, especially football. Karen and her family live in Danvers with their two rescue dogs, Freedom and Independence.
